The AVT Champions Tour concluded its Mumbai leg at the Bombay Presidency Golf Club with a thrilling final round that saw 103 senior golfers compete across six categories. With scores tightly packed and performances peaking under pressure, the finale delivered a fitting end to two days of competitive strokeplay.

Overall Winner David D’Souza
Overall
David D’Souza claimed the overall title with a gross total of 147, edging past Parthive Sanghrajka who finished runner-up at 148. This marks D’Souza’s second win of the season, reinforcing his consistency and class across the tour.
Category A (Age 50–54)
Avinash Deoskar emerged victorious in Category A with a total of 150, showcasing steady play across both rounds. Harmeet Sahney followed in second with 157, maintaining his form from Day 1.
Category B (Age 55–59)
John Wilcox clinched the Category B title with a score of 153, while Manav Prakash finished runner-up at 157. The category remained competitive throughout, with several contenders in close pursuit.
Category C (Age 60–64)
Jehangir Tankariwala continued his strong run to win Category C with a total of 152. Pushpendra Rathore followed in second with 155, both players demonstrating sharp ball-striking and composure.
Category D (Age 65–69)
Satyaprasad M Keshavamurthy took top honors in Category D with a score of 168, narrowly beating Shyamal Mashruwala who finished at 171. Their duel added depth to the senior-most age bracket.
Category E (Age 70+)
Gangesh Khaitan led the way in Category E with a total of 159, while Anil Jule followed closely at 162. Both players showcased remarkable endurance and precision across the two rounds.
Category L (Ladies)
Paromita Mukherjee dominated the Ladies division with a winning score of 159, ahead of Sonia Malhotra who posted 166. Mukherjee’s performance was a highlight of the tournament, combining consistency with flair.
Team Gross
Team 17 — Jehangir Tankariwala, David D’Souza, Paromita Mukherjee, and Sanjeev Mehra — secured the Team Gross title with a composed group effort. Team 9, featuring Parthive Sanghrajka, Harmeet Sahney, Shivas Nath, and Rohit Philip, finished runners-up.
Team Net
Team 1 — Anil Jule, Azad Singh Ruhail, Bhupender Singh, and Rohit Kapoor — claimed the Team Net title with a balanced showing across both rounds. Team 10, comprising Ajay Patel, Aditya Suklikar, John Wilcox, and Jaideep Bhattacharya, finished second.
Individual Net (Handicap 0–9)
C S Grewal posted the best net score in the lower handicap bracket with a total of 140. Venkatesh Sundaravadhanam followed in second with 146, both players showing sharp course management and resilience.
Individual Net (Handicap 10–18)
Harvinder Dhillon led the higher handicap bracket with a net score of 142, while Paresh Kapashi finished runner-up at 145. Their performances underscored the depth of talent across handicap divisions.
Sponsors HDFC Mutual Fund hosted a lucky draw for all participating golfers, giving gifts to the winners.
Mr. Dilip Thomas, speaking on behalf of the organisers, confirmed that the top two players of the current AVT Champions Tour season will earn the chance to compete at the prestigious British Senior Amateur Open.
He also announced the introduction of merit lists across all five age categories. At the end of the season, the winner from each merit list will be sponsored to play in a senior amateur open in Qatar or another nearby venue, with a subsidy of one lakh rupees provided towards their trip.
Looking ahead, Mr. Thomas highlighted that the A.V Thomas Group will celebrate its 100th year with a landmark event in June at Bangalore. He described it as an occasion not to be missed, promising something truly special for players.
