COUNTY KILDARE, Ireland, Aug 31: Pranavi Urs closed out the KPMG Women’s Irish Open with a composed 3-under 69 to finish tied 17th, as South African Casandra Alexander completed a wire-to-wire victory at The K Club on Sunday.

Pranavi, the only Indian to make the weekend rounds, ended the tournament at 8-under 280 after rounds of 69, 70, 72 and 69.

The Hero-backed Indian had been in contention for a top-10 finish earlier in the week but could not quite maintain the momentum in a tournament where low scoring made for a tightly packed leaderboard.

She produced four birdies in her final round, picking up shots at the seventh, eighth, 11th and 18th holes. A bogey on the 13th was her only blemish as she finished strongly with a birdie on the closing hole.

The other three Indians in the field — Diksha Dagar, Avani Prashanth and Hitaashee Bakshi — had exited the tournament before the weekend.

At the top, Alexander survived an early wobble before restoring control and completing her second Ladies European Tour title.

The 27-year-old South African, who began the final round with a three-shot advantage after rounds of 63, 66 and 69, opened with consecutive bogeys on the second and third holes.

Her lead was briefly reduced to one when playing partner Kajsa Arwefjall birdied the first and third, but Alexander responded emphatically with three successive birdies from the fifth to seventh holes.

She added another birdie at the 10th before dropping a shot at the 12th. A 30-minute suspension caused by a storm briefly interrupted the final round, but Alexander returned to birdie the 15th after play resumed and then safely negotiated the closing holes for a 2-under 70 and a three-shot victory.

She finished at 20-under 268, three strokes ahead of Sara Kouskova of the Czech Republic.

The victory was Alexander’s first on the LET this season, having finished runner-up five times in 2026. It also strengthened her position at the top of the Order of Merit, where she moved to 2,399.98 points.

Alexander had laid the foundation for the triumph with a course-record 63 in the opening round on the Palmer South Course, followed by a 66 and 69 to establish a commanding position heading into the final day.

Kouskova finished alone in second at 17-under after a 2-under 70. The two-time LET winner continued an impressive run of form after finishing tied 12th at the AIG Women’s Open and 16th at the PIF London Championship.

Finland’s Noora Komulainen was third at 16-under after producing the day’s best round among the leading contenders, a 5-under 67. The Olympian, who had been unwell during the week, mounted a strong final-day challenge after winning the Tipsport Czech Ladies Open earlier this season.

Ireland’s Leona Maguire delighted the home crowd with another strong finish at her native K Club. Following a sensational 9-under 63 on Saturday, Maguire carded a 4-under 68 to finish tied fourth at 15-under alongside Sweden’s Louise Rydqvist, who recorded her best LET result.

Five players shared sixth place at 13-under, including Arwefjall, Corinne Viden, Moa Folke, New Zealand’s Amelia Garvey and Singapore’s Shannon Tan, who fired a 7-under 65, the lowest round of the final day.

The LET now takes a short break before returning to action in Spain for the La Sella Open from September 17.
