MEDINAH, Illinois: The United States produced a remarkable final-day comeback to retain the 2026 Presidents Cup, overturning a three-point deficit to defeat the International Team 17-13 at Medinah Country Club.

Trailing 10.5-7.5 heading into Sunday’s singles matches, the Americans delivered one of the most dominant singles performances in Presidents Cup history. A fast start across the board quickly erased the deficit and shifted momentum firmly in favour of the home side.

Victories from Cameron Young, Justin Thomas and Scottie Scheffler put the United States back in contention early, while further points from Chris Gotterup, Collin Morikawa, Patrick Cantlay, Jackson Koivun and Xander Schauffele completed the turnaround. The Americans ultimately secured 9.5 of the 12 points available in the singles session to seal victory.

The International Team had entered the final day in a strong position after leading for much of the week and needing only five points to claim its first Presidents Cup title since 1998. However, despite several closely contested matches, the visitors were unable to halt the American charge as key moments down the closing stretch consistently went the hosts’ way.

One of the standout stories of the week was rookie Jackson Koivun, who finished unbeaten throughout the competition and played a crucial role in the United States’ success. Jacob Bridgeman delivered the decisive point, securing a hard-fought victory over Min Woo Lee to confirm the comeback and spark celebrations among the home supporters.

Having trailed by four points after Friday’s foursomes sweep and still faced a three-point deficit entering the final day, Team USA showcased tremendous resilience under pressure. The victory extends the United States’ dominance in the competition and marks its eleventh consecutive Presidents Cup triumph.

Final Score: United States 17, International Team 13.
