Arkaprovo Choudhury wins the Bengal Amateur Open 2026 – Leg 3 of the IGU East Zone Amateur Feeder Tour, which was being held at the Suryodaya Environmental Park and Training Area (SEPTA), Kolkata, from May 2 to May 3.
With the practice round scheduled on May 1, over 61 avid amateur, mid-amateur, senior, super senior and ladies golfers played a total of 36 holes over two consecutive rounds.
The participants were divided into the following categories:
Overnight leader in the Amateur category, Arkaprovo Choudhury (76-78) had a difficult second round in which he shot a 78, following a 76 in the first round. At an overall score of 154, Arkaprovo won the Amateur category.
Saquib Hussain (79-76) played a better second round shooting a 76, and at an overall score of 155, finished second in the Amateur category.
Andrew Baid (81-77) also played a better second round in which he shot a 77, and at an overall score of 158, finished third in the Amateur category.
Overnight leader in the Mid Amateur category, Amit Kr. Saraogi (92-84) played a better second round shooting an 84, and at an overall score of 176, won the Mid-Amateur category.
Overnight leader in the Senior category, Col. Shreekant Tiwari (87-81) shot an 81 in the second round, playing better, and with an overall score of 176, won his category, followed by Dr. Ashish Kumar (90-90) and B. V Srihari Rao (90-93), who finished second and third in the Senior category with overall scores of 180 and 183 respectively.
Dr. Ashish Kumar (90-90) also won the Super Senior category, followed by B. V Srihari Rao (90-93), who finished second in the Super Senior category.
Meanwhile, Samaira Chitlangia (78-79) won the Ladies category with an overall score of 157.
The Bengal Amateur Open 2026 is a WAGR ranking event, which is scheduled to be held on May 5.
