The IGU RCGC Junior Boys Golf Championship 2025 commenced at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club, Kolkata, on October 28, with over 100 junior golfers teeing off.
In the A&B Boys category, Neil Jolly from Chandigarh took the lead, shooting a 3-under 67. Harjai Milkha Singh from Chandigarh and Prince Bainsla from Haryana lay tied for second with a score of 2-under 68.
Danish Verma from Punjab lay fourth with a score of 71. He also led the B Boys category after the first round.
In the B Boys category, Saatvic Kumar Singh from Telangana and local lad Rayan Sao lay tied for second with a score of 75. Haryana’s Jaibir Singh Kang, West Bengal’s Aranyak Chakraborty and Aryaveer Agrawal lay tied for fourth, shooting a 76.
In the C Boys category, Karnataka’s Adit Veeramachaneni takes the lead total shooting a 1-under 69.
Delhi’s Krishnav Gupta and Uttar Pradesh’s Kabir Goyal lay tied for second with a 75. West Bengal’s Arkoprovo Chaudhury ended the round at fourth with an 80.
The format of this tournament is a unique one, where the participants of Category A&B Boys will play two rounds of stroke play starting today, October 28, followed by rounds of match play. The top 32 participants combining A&B Boys over the two rounds of stroke play will be qualified to play the match play rounds.
A total of 16 matches will be played by the participants combining categories A&B Boys, in the first Match Play round, scheduled to be held on October 30. The participants qualifying for the Pre-Quarter Finals Match Play on October 31 will play 8 matches in the first half of the day to qualify for the Quarter Final Match Play, where 4 matches will be played in the second half of the day to decide the semi-finalists.
The players qualifying for the semi-final Match Play will play 2 matches on November 1, combining the categories A&B Boys. The Finals of Match Play, which will finally decide the winner of the IGU RCGC Junior Boys Golf Championship 2025, are scheduled to be held on November 2, with a game played over 36 holes. In case of a tie for first place, a sudden death from the first hole will be applied to decide the winner.
