Aman Raj delivered a commanding performance in Round 1 of the IGPL Invitational- Kolkata 2025 at the Tollygunge Golf Club. With a flawless 9-under 61, Aman surged to the top of the leaderboard, establishing a four-shot lead over his nearest competitor, Mysuru’s Aalaap I L, who carded a bogey-free 65.
Aman’s round was marked by consistency and control across all 18 holes. He birdied four times on the front nine (holes 3, 6, 7, and 9) and added five more on the back nine (holes 10, 12, 13, 15, and 16), showcasing sharp iron play and confident putting. This marks his third 61 in the last four rounds, continuing the momentum from his recent victory at IGPL Jaipur.
Aalaap I L, starting from the 10th tee, posted one of his best rounds of the season with three birdies and an eagle, finishing at 5-under 65. His clean scorecard placed him in solo second, reinforcing his growing reputation on the IGPL circuit following a Top-10 finish in Pune.
Four players finished in a tie for third place with a score of 4-under 66: Syed Saqib Ahmed, Udayan Mane, Kartik Sharma, and Aditya Raj Kumar Chauhan. This was only Udayan’s second IGPL event, where he achieved seven birdies but was also affected by a bogey and a double bogey. Both Kartik Sharma and Syed Saqib Ahmed delivered steady rounds, while Aditya Chauhan made a quiet ascent into contention with a well-balanced performance.
Seven players, including seasoned professionals Chiragh Kumar and Harendra Gupta, as well as amateur Aryav Shah, posted 3-under 67 to share seventh place. Their rounds reflected a mix of experience and emerging talent.
Among the women, Rhea Purvi Sarvanan led the way with a score of 2-under 68, finishing in a tie for 11th place alongside Kapil Kumar, Pukhraj Singh Gill, Yashas Chandra, Aryan Roopa Anand, Raghav Chugh, and Sydney Chung. Additionally, Kriti Chowhan and Ridhima Dilawari made notable performances with scores of 69, placing them in a tie for 18th.
Despite an hour-long suspension due to lightning and wet conditions, the field adapted well, with 26 players finishing at par or better. The Tollygunge layout, known for its strategic challenges and slick greens, rewarded precision and punished inconsistency.
