Eric Cole (-12) surged into the lead at Colonial Country Club with a brilliant -7 round, vaulting himself to the top of the leaderboard heading into Sunday. His aggressive play and sharp putting separated him from the pack in a tightly contested tournament.
Ryan Gerard (-11) remains close behind after a steady -2, keeping himself firmly in contention. Just one shot further back at -10, Max Meissner and J.J. Spaun both delivered composed rounds to stay within striking distance.
At -9, Alex Smalley, Hideki Matsuyama, and Russell Henley are still in the hunt, each producing consistent play to remain in the mix. Matsuyama’s even-par round slowed his momentum slightly, but his precision keeps him dangerous heading into the final day.
The chasing group at -8 includes Michael Thorbjornsen, Mackenzie Hughes, Echavarría, and Michael Brennan. Echavarría’s standout -5 was one of the rounds of the day, giving him a late surge up the leaderboard.
