Ashun Wu scripted a fairytale ending at the 2025 Volvo China Open, winning with a blemish-free final round of 6-under 65 to post at 14-under par for the week. The 39-year-old Chinese golfer, competing on home turf at the Enhance Anting Golf Club in Shanghai, won his second China Open title — precisely ten years since his first.
Wu began Round 4 four strokes back from the leaders but surged up the leaderboard with birdies on the 1st, 8th, and an amazing run on the back nine. His steady and thoughtful play late, particularly a critical birdie on the 17th, won him over from England’s Jordan Smith, who faltered with a bogey on the same hole.
Smith, who was in contention all week, shot a solid 68 but came up one stroke short at 13-under. Germany’s Yannik Paul took solo third place at 12-under, and China’s Zecheng Dou and Haotong Li shared fourth with Spain’s Eugenio Chacarra.
Wu’s triumph is his fifth DP World Tour title and an emphatic comeback from losing his full tour status this season. Wu, born in Shanghai, described the victory as emotional and special, referring to the pride of winning in front of home support again.
