Following their steady performances in the IGU All India Mid-Amateur and Senior Golf Championship 2025, which happened at the ITC Classic Golf and Country Club, from July 22 to July 25, Gaurav Ghosh, David D’ Souza, Sandeep Sandhu and Amardeep Singh Bajwa qualify for the Indian senior golf team.
The local seasoned golfers from Kolkata, Karnataka, Chandigarh and Haryana respectively, played exceptional golf over the four rounds at Gurugram, despite the inclement rainy weather. Bengal’s Gaurav Ghosh (70-75-70) won the Senior A (55-59 years) category as well as the Senior A, B & C Combined category with an overall score of 1-under 215, followed by Karnataka’s David D’ Souza (74-73-73), who finished second in the Senior A (55-59 years) as well as Senior A, B and C Combined category, with an overall score of 220. Meanwhile, veteran players, Chandigarh’s Sandeep Sandhu (72-73-80), and Haryana’s Amardeep Singh Bajwa (75-78-71), won the Senior B (60-65 years) and Senior C (65+ years and above) categories, at overall scores of 225 and 224 respectively.
Ghosh, D’ Souza, Sandhu and Bajwa’s exceptional performance marked by composure and consistency have earned them the honour to represent India in the reputed Asia-Pacific Senior Championship, which is supposed to be held at Manila, Philippines, in September 2025.
The news of representing India at the Asia-Pacific Senior Championship, had Ghosh elated. He said, “That’s the next big goal. I’ll be preparing even harder to represent the country at an international level.”
Meanwhile, Sandeep Sandhu, who has also secured the chance to represent Indian golf at the Asia-Pacific Senior Championship, will be representing India for the third year consecutively. Besides this, Sandhu is currently on the Order of Merit Winner on the AVT Golf Tour, and will also be representing the country’s golf at the South Africa Senior Amateur Golf Championship in October 2025.
