Lt. Col. Varoon Parmar and David D’Souza lead their respective categories after round two of the IGU Mid Amateur and Senior Golf Tournament, which is being held at the prestigious Royal Calcutta Golf Club, Kolkata, from June 17 to June 19.
In the Mid Amateur category, seasoned golfer Lt. Col. Varoon Parmar (72-71) played a better second round, shooting a 1-under 71 after an even par score of 72 in the first round. Overnight leader in the Mid Amateur category, West Bengal golfer Arjun Singh (70-73), who opened with a 2-under 70, shot a 1-over 73 in the second round. At a two-day score of 1-under 143, Lt. Col. Parmar and Singh take joint lead in the Mid Amateur category.
Bengal’s Karan Singh (76-70) played a better second round in which he shot a 2-under 70, following a 76 in the opening round and at a two-day total of 146, lay third in the Mid Amateur category, followed by Bengal’s Ranjit Singh (73-74) who lay fourth at a two-day total score of 147.
The Overall Senior category is led by seasoned Karnataka golfer David D’Souza (73-75) at a two-day score of 148, who opened with a 1-over 73, but had a difficult second round in which he shot a 75.
D’Souza also leads the Seniors B category (60-64 years).
Arunachal Pradesh golfer Col. Hemanta Panging (77-75) and Bengal’s Gaurav Ghosh (76-76) lay tied second in the Overall Senior category with a two-day total score of 152.
Col. Panging and Ghosh also co-lead the Seniors A category (55-59 years).
Rajasthan golfer Pushpendu Rathore (77-77), lay fourth in the Overall Senior category and second in the Seniors B category (60-64 years) with a two-day score of 154.
Uttar Pradesh golfer Ashish Kapoor (79-76) lay third in the Seniors A category (55-59 years) at a two-day total score of 155.
Delhi’s Dilip Sharma (80-78) lay third in the Seniors B category (60-64 years) at a two-day score of 158.
Seasoned golfer Delhi’s Gangesh Khaitan (81-75), overnight leader in Seniors C category (65 years and above), maintained lead after the second round in his category at a two-day total score of 156.
Delhi’s Amit Luthra (81-79) and Bengal’s Lakshman Singh (78-85) lay second and third in the Seniors C category (65 years and above) at two-day total scores of 160 and 163 respectively.
